Making a Youtube video is a little more complicated than just pushing the record button. To make a GOOD video requires preparation and up to date equipment. Here are a few things I use to make sure my videos turn out decent:
1) Camera and SD Card
Having a great camera will improve the quality of your videos 100%. I use a Canon Rebel EOS T2i SLR with a Sandisk Extreme Pro SD card especially used for HD video. I suggest getting an SLR with a flip screen because I DON'T have one, hence my janky mirror set up. Canon's also don't have auto focus (you have to manually do it) but, it produces an amazing quality video. If you can't break the bank for a Canon however, I started out using my iphone which worked great and imovie is available in the Apple store for downloading. A tripod is also a great tool!
At first, I used natural lighting to film my videos but found that each video was inconsistent in appearance. Also, I could only film at a certain time of day when the sun was just right and if I missed that time window, it was over! Though natural light is the best light, i opted to try light boxes and i'm in LOVE. I still am adjusting to using them correctly but I like that I can film any part of the day (even at night) without having to worry! I purchased mine at a photography store and these are also available online on websites like Amazon.
Editing is SO important! It's crucial in the overall feel of your video and can "make " or "break" it. You want your video to flow effortlessly so avoid over using effects that can distract from your content. You should also spend a good amount of time editing to make sure you are producing a video that meet your standards and the standards of your viewers. I currently use imovie which I really like, simply because it is so easy to use! I love the drag and drop feel to it (hence why I also chose Weebly as my blog host).
Those are my tips on how you can create a good quality Youtube video!
