Watch how to do it HERE!
I am HORRIBLE at remembering to clean my makeup brushes but it really is something we need to put into practice in our makeup routine. Not only do our makeup brushes get filled with eyeshadow/foundation/bronzer messes, it can also hold onto bacteria! In order to keep a flawless face, it's crucial to wash your brushes on a weekly basis.
Before I tell you my method of cleaning my brushes, let's talk about CLEANSERS! Some say to use baby shampoo and some say to use olive oil, BUT i say just use a brush cleanser! It was made for exactly that purpose so you can't go wrong with that! I LOVE the MAC brush cleanser ($14) but since I have completely used it up, i'm trying out the Sonia Kashuk brush and sponge cleanser ($6).
But how do you clean them? Here are my 5 steps to ensure a squeaky clean brush:
1) Take your brush and run its bristles under the water to get it wet.
2) Cup your hand and spray/pour a good amount of cleanser into your hand depending on the size of your brush.
3) Take your brush and gently swirl the bristles into the palm of your hand until all makeup is removed. You might need to repeat this step again depending on the brush size.
4) Rinse brush under the water until water runs clear and the brush is free of cleanser.
5) Shape your brush using your fingers and place brush flat down so the bristles are hanging over the edge of something (see picture above and below).
You now are an accomplished brush cleaner!!
WHAT NOT TO DO:
Do not pour brush cleaner into a cup and place all your brushes into it until they are clean! This will damage the glue that hold the bristles in place! I learned this the hard way!
In general, do not be rough when cleaning your brushes! They are precious!
xoxo
